After Lord and Eternity, it is an honor and a great pleasure for me that Michel Corboz, head and founder of the Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne, has asked me to write an oeuvre for the program of the concert destined to mark the 50th anniversary of this prestigious choral group. I have chosen the extracts of the third and last chant of the last part of the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. It is a poem à la gloire de la Vierge Marie et de l'Amour dont l'élan lyrique m'a immédiatement convaincu. The oeuvre can be compared to a vitrail sonore because the music follows the text closely. I opted for a very colorful harmonization and a structure in succession of episodes where the polyphony is predominant. Il Paradiso s'achève par un joyeux canon à la gloire de l'Amour 'qui meut le soleil et toutes les étoiles', pour s'éteindre dans la douceur de l'illumination.
