Description:
Christian Theodor Weinlig was Thomaskantor in Leipzig from 1823 to 1842. He grew up in the tradition of the Dresden Kreuzchor and completed his studies in Italy. In Leipzig, he was recognized for his strictly contrapuntal motet style and was also highly regarded as a composition teacher, including by Richard Wagner. This magnificent psalm setting is equally rewarding for performers and listeners alike.
