Description:
Let the Music Flow is a short, rousing piece that celebrates singing in a choir. Here, groove, jazzy harmonies and deep statement are combined. The text by Edward Broadbridge impressively describes the merging of individual voices into a body of sound, the experience of music with all the senses and the peace-making power of making music together. The music is a mixture of beautiful choral sound and rhythmic intensity in jazz-inspired phrases – "typical Høybye". The first of a total of three parts is seductively lively. The second part contains some challenging chord constructions. And in the third movement, the choir celebrates "all the wonders our human life contains" with a playful, swinging 6/8 figure. "Let the Music Flow" was commissioned by the State Academy for Young Musicians in Baden-Württemberg and premiered as part of the international choir festival C.H.O.I.R. 2024.
