The motet "Machet die Tore weit" by Andreas Hammerschmidt is one of the most glamorous and well-known works of Baroque Advent music. With this setting of the 24th Psalm, the Bohemian-Saxon composer created a festive piece for six-part mixed choir that masterfully captures the joyful anticipation of the coming of Christ.
