Description:
Die Messe in C-Dur für Alt, zwei Hörner, Chor und Orgel wird, da sie während Bruckners Aufenthalt um 1842 im Dorf Windhaag bei Freistadt entstand, auch Windhaager Messe genannt. Bruckner schrieb die Windhaager Messe als achtzehnjähriger Schulgehilfe. Wegen der Schlichtheit gilt sie als Frühwerk Bruckners, der in späteren Jahren mit groß angelegten Messkompositionen eine eigene Tonsprache entwickelte.
