Description:
Richter's compositions are currently being rediscovered in many places. His relatively long period of activity as a conductor and composer at various important venues for secular and sacred music at home and abroad led to a great stylistic diversity in his oeuvre. This ranges from the 'stile antico' to early classical tendencies, which are entirely in keeping with the times. The 'Missa Laetare' presented here in the first edition belongs to the first group. Richter wrote it for the 4th Sunday of Lent, which is why it does not contain a Gloria. By limiting the accompaniment to the continuo, the masterly counterpoint of the vocal parts can fully shine. The mass is a sophisticated addition to the repertoire (not only) for Lent. With Credo.
