Description:
At the request of many choirs singing in three parts, the popular English composer Robert Jones wrote his first 'independent' Mass Ordinary for SABar and organ. In composing it, he deliberately had 'simple' conditions in mind, as his work contains no technical difficulties, all three voices move exclusively in their most comfortable registers and - as usual with Jones - occasional unison passages significantly reduce the rehearsal time. On the other hand, there were no restrictions in terms of the beauty of the sound and the overall musical impression: The mass captivates with elegant melodic lines (quite a few of which are catchy), romantic, indulgent harmonies and a convincing tonal expressiveness. A short Ordinary that is guaranteed to be sung with pleasure for festive as well as ordinary occasions throughout the church year.
