Description:
The Missa opportuna is - as the name suggests - a short, compact, easy-to-sing mass suitable for all occasions in the church year. It combines the Latin mass text with a timeless, classical a cappella choral setting, which can be supported colla parte by instruments if required. The Kyrie and Gloria as well as the Sanctus and Agnus Dei parts of the mass are thematically linked and yet independent in their musical mood: the Kyrie call is followed by a rousing Gloria, and the Sanctus appears intimately carried. The Agnus Dei intensifies towards the end into an urgent plea for peace. Musically, the final section takes up the motif from the beginning of the Kyrie again and thus ensures cyclical unity. An immediately catchy, effective mass for many occasions!
