Die Missa pro nobis entstand im Auftrag des 98. Katholikentags 2012 in Mannheim als liturgische Musik für den Abschlussgottesdienst im Mannheimer Schlosshof. Gegenüber meiner Jazzmesse, von der die Missa pro nobis ihre musikalischen Grundideen übernimmt, ist diese Messe mit ca. 16 Minuten für einen Gottesdienst geeignet. Der Text ist in deutscher Sprache und die Gemeinde ist musikalisch ständig beteiligt, indem sie leichte, eingängige Kehrverse in allen Teilen der Messe zu singen hat. Diese sollen von einem Bläserensemble oder einer Orgel begleitet werden und sind als Kopiervorlage der Partitur beigefügt.
Dem Jazztrio bleibt wieder Raum zur improvisatorischen Gestaltung, der Klavierpart ist ausgeschrieben, als Möglichkeit für Pianisten, die es nicht gewohnt sind, nach Jazz-Symbolen zu improvisieren.
