Description:
The title song, written by Fred Ebb and John Kander and interpreted by Liza Minnelli towards the end of the film, gained its international fame primarily through Frank Sinatra, who carried it continuously in his concert repertoire from October 1978 until his last performances in December 1994. In September 1979, Sinatra recorded the song in the studio with an arrangement by Don Costa for his Reprise album Trilogy: Past-Present-Future and also released it as a single after the album's release in March 1980. This recording has since been considered the unofficial anthem of the city of New York.
