Description:
Pepper Choplin burst onto the church choral market with this break out hit. It was such a success as an anthem, he developed it into a best-selling cantata by the same name (A7481). Told as a troubadour sharing a story, the folk-like quality of the music and message was a fresh approach for congregations. The anthem still moves listeners to tears with its touching portrayal of the cross.Supports: Matthew 27, Mark 15, Luke 23, and John 19
