Sleuthing, the joy of discovery and sometimes lucky coincidences repeatedly lead to first printings of works that would otherwise remain hidden from the public. This was the case with this private discovery of a previously unknown pastoral mass by the Silesian composer Ignaz Reimann in a small music collection from the immediate vicinity of his place of work, Albendorf. The work, which is richly endowed with the 'pastoral charms' so typical of Reimann, can be performed in various instrumentations: with organ alone, with strings and organ or with full orchestra. For the first variant, the editor has created a separate, easily playable organ excerpt. For many choirs, Reimann has been as much a part of Christmas as 'Silent Night' and 'Transeamus' for decades. This 'new' pastoral mass should not only please those choirs, but also expand the circle of Reimann enthusiasts. With Credo.
