Description:
The four-movement "Regina coeli" K. 108 (74d), composed in Salzburg in May 1771, is clearly modeled on Neapolitan church music in terms of expression and texture. The mostly homophonic chorus of the two outer movements in rich orchestral garb forms the framework for two arias for soprano, rich in coloratura, of which the two parts of the first aria are equipped with a choral epilogue. Accordingly, the solo-tutti contrast is also used in the last movement, which also emphasizes the dominant role of the solo soprano that characterizes the entire piece.
