Description:
Fauré completed the work in 1887 at the age of 42. Fauré's main focus was actually on composing chamber music. As a result, his music has become little known outside his home country. Fauré's Requiem deviates slightly from the traditional requiem mass. He adds a further section, In paradisum, which is traditionally played when the body is taken from the church to the cemetery. Overall, Fauré attempts to paint a peaceful picture of death.
