Description:
The Sounds from Moravia, originally a piece of domestic music, enjoyed great popularity soon after its composition. Thanks to this work, the young Dvorak was awarded a generous scholarship so that he no longer had to worry about his livelihood. The subsequent print edition by Simrock opened the composer's way into the world. Shortly afterwards, L. Janacek arranged the six duets for four-part mixed choir. He used Dvorak's piano accompaniment and expanded the choral repertoire with his arrangement to include six extremely rewarding pieces, which this edition contains. The basis for this edition is Janacek's choral score, which was published by Josef Plavec in 1939. The piano part, the Czech text and the German translation by Kurt Honolka were taken without alterations from the Critical Complete Edition of the Works of A. Dvorak.
