Description:
The poignant 13th-century medieval poem by Jacopone da Todi stands as one of the most profound texts in sacred choral music. In this moving setting in F, renowned Hungarian composer György Orbán captures Mary's sorrow at the foot of the cross through a modern, deeply emotional musical language. Written for a cappella mixed choir (SSATBB), this ambitious work captivates with its dense harmonic textures, dramatic climaxes, and masterful voice leading that deeply touches singers and audiences alike. Published by Hinshaw Music, this composition is available as a choral score. An extraordinary addition to Passiontide concerts, sacred services, and sophisticated choral programs.
