Description:
Giuseppe Verdi's Te Deum for double choir and large orchestra is the most frequently performed part of his Quattro pezzi sacri and his penultimate work, composed in 1895/1896. Verdi dealt intensively and very personally with the text, the Ambrosian hymn of praise. In a compact formal structure, a wide stylistic range unfolds, from a monophonic beginning in Gregorian chant to great dramatic effects and a quiet, doubtful fade-out. This new edition is the first critical edition of the Te Deum. Also available in the "Choir & Organ" series.
