Dr Hyun Kook is a composer, medical doctor, and professor in the Department of Pharmacology at his alma mater Chonnam National Medical School, Korea. He is a member of both the Korean Academy of Sciences and Technology and the National Academy of Medicine of Korea. Self-taught in composition, Kook has built a strong reputation in choral composition both in Korea and internationally, and his works have been performed in prestigious venues such as Cologne Cathedral, and St Mark's Basilica, Venice. His music has been recorded on more than 20 albums, and he has written for commissions in Korea, Europe, and the United States.
