Description:
With his arrangement of the American folk/gospel song for four-part mixed choir, Martin Kirchhübel enriches the Bosse Hits a cappella series. Despite its brevity, it is full of tonal colors and creates a melancholy yet exciting atmosphere. A completely new version of the piece is created through flowing quaver lines, the revisiting and further development of motifs and harmonies, as well as unexpected rhythmic counter-voices. The melody begins in the bass, then switches to the soprano and finally to the alto at the end of the piece. The choirs and audience are musically transported into the world of the traveling stranger, his loneliness, search and thoughts.
