Description:
The Erich Schmid Edition - at the same time part of the Berliner Schule Edition edited by Ludwig Holtmeier - aims at presenting all sixteen opus works of the Swiss composer Erich Schmid (1907-2000) in a historical, critical, yet practical edition. The little, yet important oeuvre by the Schoenberg pupil Erich Schmid was created at a time when twelve-note music was not in fashion in Switzerland. 'Vier Chöre' Op. 15 (1930/1940) - based on texts by the worker-poet Bruno Schönlank, presented in this first volume of the series - dates back to the student days of Schmid with Arnold Schoenberg in Berlin and was composed during a significant study time of the composer who expected new ideas and inspiration from Schoenberg after his studies in Frankfurt.
