Catching great writers red-handed in their misogyny, I wanted to respond to their allegations by looking at - and setting to music - some edifying texts written by women from the same period. By tackling in this way such a delicate and sensitive subject, I hope I am giving young performers and adolescents today the desire to confront these powerful, feminist commitments, their combats and their works, and perhaps to throw a different light on the meanderings of these illustrious men.
