Häärzwärts, written in the Swiss canton of Valais, is on the one hand a complete mass for church services and religious celebrations, and on the other a collection of emotional choral songs that can also be performed individually or in individual combinations in a secular setting. The piano part included in the choral score is explicitly intended for performance by choir and piano. Due to the variable scoring options (choir and piano with additional instruments), the work can be used in a variety of ways and is ideally suited for numerous occasions! Martin Völlinger combines folk, classical and jazzy-pop echoes to create a very personal, emotional and immediately catchy musical language. The simple, touching lyrics by Marie-Elisabeth Hischier-Borter (in Valais dialect or High German) address highs and lows and pose questions about life and the hereafter, to which there is ultimately only one simple, clear answer: think from the heart, act from the heart.
