'Weihnachten 21' ist kein modernisiertes Krippenspiel, sondern greift Strömungen der Zeit kritisch-nachdenklich auf. Es stößt damit in eine Lücke. Der 1. Teil geht vom biblischen Geschehen aus. Der 2. Teil wendet sich heutigen Entfremdungen zu. Der 3. Teil gibt der Zuversicht Ausdruck, dass auch im 21. Jahrhundert die Botschaft der Liebe die Menschen erreicht. Das Oratorium mit seinen machtvollen Chören und packenden Soloparts wird vom Rock-Idiom und von den gegenwartsbezogenen Texten geprägt. Integriert sind Rap, Blues, Gospel, Latin Music und Musical-Elemente sowie Zitate aus Gregorianik und Bach-Choral. Viele Solisten- und Chorstücke eignen sich auch gut für Aufführungen außerhalb der Weihnachtszeit.
