Die 17 Chorsätze für gemischten Chor wurden von Fanny Hensel 1846, ein Jahr vor ihrem Tod, komponiert. Sie legte Texte von Lenau, Geibel, Goethe, Uhland, Eichendorff und Wilhelm Hensel zugrunde. Neben sechs Chorsätzen, die bereits zu ihren Lebzeiten als 'Gartenlieder op. 3' veröffentlicht wurden, werden hier elf Erstveröffentlichungen präsentiert. 'Erstmals als geschlossene Chorsammlung veröffentlicht der Furore-Verlag 5 Hefte mit weltlichen a-cappella-Liedern für gemischten Chor der hochbegabten Komponistin. ... Den sehr einfühlsam, innig, poetisch und hochromantisch vertonten Kompositionen liegen Texte romantischer Dichter wie Lenau, Eichendorff, Uhland, Geibel zugrunde, ebenso von Goethe, der die sensible Komponistin sehr schätzte und ihr ein eigens für sie geschriebenes Gedicht schickte.'
