Thomas Markus has created an impressive work with this choral motet, which consciously interprets the text and places high demands on the choir, but rewards them with a wonderful sound and listening pleasure.
The melody by Christian Lahusen forms the basis of this work with a short quotation from M. Luther's hymn of faith at the beginning of the 2nd verse. The music closely follows the text by Rudolf Alexander Schröder, from which the dynamics and agogics can be derived. For this reason, the instructions are not given in minute detail, but are left to the performers except for very prominent passages.
