The York Mystery Plays are a medieval series of 48 plays and pageants, traditionally performed in the city of York in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, that cover the Christian history of the world from the creation to the Last Judgement. This work for unaccompanied choir sets a text taken from Play XVI, ‘Herod and the Magi’. It was first performed on 17th January 2026 at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, conducted by Peter Holder.
