Description:
Wonderful Mystery is a collection of seven Christmas carols for choir and instrumental accompaniment, whereby the music is completely newly composed. All seven pieces are based on English Christmas texts from the 15th and 16th centuries. Jan Wilke based his compositions on traditional models of Anglican church music, for example the first verses are often solo or in unison or there is a crowning upper voice in the last verse. It was important to him to convey the emotionality of the timeless texts and to ensure that they could be performed well. A collection that awakens wonder and joy at the Christmas miracle in performers and listeners alike.
