Description:
At the center of Hartmut Hein's cantata is the question "Why are we on earth?". Man's search for the meaning of his life is presented in a "question and answer game" in which both biblical demands (e.g. "Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven") and individually formulated hopes and possible solutions come to the fore. The music is stylistically located in the crossover area. In terms of difficulty and instrumentation, it is geared towards the possibilities of youth and school choirs, but is also aimed at church and oratorio choirs.
