Description:
Roller Coaster is Roland Szentpali's second work for traditional brass band scoring with 2 (peppery) solo euphonium parts (or 2 trombones or 2 tenor saxophones, or any combination of these instruments). The short piece (approx. 5'30) is a real technical and musical firework, which stands for the unbridled inventiveness and skill of the talented Hungarian composer. This work, like the first (Concerto for Brass Band - BIM BRB16, composed in 2017), is in the latest elegant contemporary jazz style, in which Szentpali skillfully uses the resources of the brass and percussion players to accompany the two euphonium soloists as they take off and cling on again, like on a roller coaster. It is another successful challenge that brass band musicians and their fans love... Roland Szentpali has also realized a quintet version of this work, for the same two solo instruments with trio accompaniment, e-keyboard, bass guitar and drumset (BIM TU202e).
