True, by Gary Kemp, was the title track on Spandau Ballet's 1980's album of the same name and was a worldwide hit. To just say that this arrangement is 'Basie Style' does not do it justice. It is quite simply a perfect creation - right from the delicately phrased piano intro, followed by 9 bars of relaxed full ensemble with a walking bass line and Freddie Green style under-stated guitar before the vocal starts. The music than very gradually builds to a powerful ending. Brilliant! Also available for Big Band (POW4176).
