Description:
A Day of Hope begins with an expectant trumpet fanfare, which is taken over by the entire brass section before the main theme of the first fast section is presented in a dance-like manner by the woodwinds. Finally, a tenor horn solo, similar to a recitative, leads to the romantic middle section, whose melody is carried by a solo trumpet and then resounds in the tutti orchestra. The finale is a sublime march in the style of British military marches, where the dance-like main theme of the first movement is now lyrical and noble. The fanfares of the introduction are heard once more in short quotations before the work reaches its finale majestically and hopefully. A Day of Hope' stands for peace and justice, it is an all-round optimistic work which embodies the positive aura of music in every situation of life.
