Description:
A Pastoral Rhapsody by Bertrand Moren is a lyrical and atmospheric work for alphorn solo and various accompanying formations. In three contrasting parts - Lento e molto rubato, Andante espressivo and Swing - the composer combines alpine tradition with contemporary tonal language. The free and expressive introduction particularly emphasizes the deep sound and poetic character of the alphorn. The middle section unfolds a warm, vocal atmosphere, inspired by mountain landscapes and vast natural spaces. The final movement brings a surprising note of lightness and modernity with its elegant and rhythmic swing style. This original combination of folkloristic elements and jazz influences gives the work a particularly appealing identity. The composition is flexible and can be performed with wind orchestra, brass band, piano or small ensembles. It offers the soloist numerous possibilities for musical expression and tonal coloration.
