Description:
Concertino in one movement for Tenorhorn/Euphonium Solo + wind band
Commissioned by the "Polizeimusik OÖ", Mag. Dr. Harald Haselmayr.
The concerto is in D minor, but bears the title "A.S.-Dur." "- Concertino in one Movement." A flat major is known to have 4b accidentals - in this case, however, the four Bb's mean: Bruckner, Bach, Beethoven and Brahms, and in this piece, themes or motifs from these composers are incorporated. In detail, motifs from: Bruckner's 4th Symphony, Bruckner's 7th Symphony, Brahms' 1st Symphony, Beethoven's 5th Symphony and Bach's Toccata & Fugue can be heard (also sometimes hidden in the "background"). The middle section is of course - to stay true to the "B" - a ballad. And ....... A.S. are also my initials ;).
The world premiere took place on 12.4.2018 at the Brucknerhaus Linz.
