Description:
It was the Argentinean composer Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) who was at the origin of the so-called symphonic tango in the forties. Those tangos were performed by large orchestras and thus broke with the tradition of the small 'orquesta tipica' Adiós Nonino is a typical example.
