Description:
'Agua, Azucarillos y Aguardiente' is a zarzuela in one act with a libretto by Miguel Ramos Carrión and music by Frederico Chueca. It was premiered at the Apolo theater in Madrid on June 23, 1897 and became one of the most popular works in his genre. The libretto is set in Madrid in the late nineteenth century and the music supports that setting with music known and appreciated by the public, such as a pasacalle, a waltz, a mazurka, seguidillas and a jota. Spanish arranger Sergio Rodríguez Pena transcribed the famous pasacalle from this zarzuela for Symphonic Band.
