Description:
Amen is a solemn work by Pavel Stanék. The devout, moving main theme is presented by the solo baritone (alternatively by bassoon or tenor saxophone). Oboe, flute, alto saxophone, and trumpets bring the delicate second theme to life. The piece becomes increasingly sublime, building from phrase to phrase, culminating in the solemn final chord, after which not only the musicians but also the listeners must take a deep breath. This piece is suitable for a calm, atmospheric concert conclusion not only because of its title. The careful orchestration creates a very balanced and full sound.
