Two Celtic-like airs float through this very expressive, gentle composition. The opening is poignantly beautiful, with opportunities for expressive freedom. Moving into a delicate dance, the music wanders among mixed motifs, as if floating in the mist. The still mountain air settles the music as the piece closes. The composer was inspired by his early morning walks in the woods surrounding his home in the Appalachian mountains.
