Description:
The piece was commissioned by Manger Musikklag in 1990.
It is structured as a series of long crescendi towards the dynamic climax in the last bars.
Awakening also pointed out a new direction for me when writing for wind and brass instruments, an energetic style based on extended modality and short riff-like motives.
