Description:
The original "Hymn to the Night" is a piece of music for a polyphonic choir. The melody was composed by Beethoven. Because of its solemn and contemplative character, the work is often performed during the Christmas season. This arrangement, from 2020—the Beethoven anniversary year—has been adapted here for wind orchestra. 1. Holy Night, oh pour heavenly peace into this heart! Bring rest to the poor pilgrim, sweet solace to his pain! The stars are already glowing brightly, sending greetings from the blue distance: How I long to flee toward you, heavenward! 2. Harp tones, gentle and sweet, tender breezes waft toward me, from heaven’s paradise, from the sea of love’s delight. Just keep shining, you golden stars, beckoning from the blue distance: How I long to flee toward you, up to the heavens!
