Description:
Welcome to the circus! This impressive arrangement of classic circus melodies and dynamic original material by composer and arranger Ed Huckeby offers both performers and listeners the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the excitement and fascination of the "ring"! From the opening strains of "Entrance" featuring "Entry of the Gladiators" (also known as "Thunder and Blazes") by Julius Fučík to the concluding "Grand Finale" ("E Pluribus Unum March" by Fred Jewell), this musical masterpiece is brimming with circus atmosphere and excitement.
The "First Act" combines two traditional favorites: "Ta-Ra-Ra Boom-De-Ay" (Henry J. Sayers) and the famous theme from the overture to Gioachino Rossini’s *William Tell*. When the clowns first appear to bridge the transition to the next act, Huckeby has created a "humorous" musical setting with original melodies, harmonies, and special effects that evoke cheerfulness and lightheartedness. In the "Second Act," additional "variety music" provides the perfect backdrop for various performances, such as animal acts, acrobats, jugglers, and contortionists. Of course, the clowns return with more original music, ensuring a fast-paced transition to the "Third Act — "Aerial Acrobatics"—in which Gaston Lyle’s *The Daring Young Man on the Flying Trapeze* sets the stage for spectacular aerial acts (including the impressive "catches," which are highlighted by the percussion).
The "Grand Finale," in which the entire circus cast parades on stage, is perfectly accompanied by Jewell’s frequently performed patriotic march (E Pluribus Unum), which was first introduced in 1917. This magnificent medley of circus classics and artfully crafted original music creates vivid musical imagery and takes your young (or young-at-heart) audience on an unforgettable circus journey! Enjoy!
