Joachim Bock

Böhmisch sind die Lieder

With the polka "Böhmisch sind die Lieder," Joachim Bock presents a work that highlights his love for brass band music and the power of shared memories. The composition was created at the request of his longtime musical colleague Andres Eckl, who wanted to give his wife a very special gift for her 50th birthday. This polka ultimately emerged from one of Bock’s unpublished melodies, to which Eckl added fitting lyrics. The story tells of an encounter at a brass band event—perhaps unusual today, but perfectly in keeping with the romantic and nostalgic atmosphere that many lovers of Bohemian brass music cherish so much. Melody and lyrics combine to form a heartfelt tribute to the music that brings people together and creates memories. Whether performed instrumentally or with vocals, "Böhmisch sind die Lieder" captivates with catchy melodies, deep emotion, and that special atmosphere that only genuine Bohemian polkas can convey. It is a work that appeals to both the heart and the ear.
