Description:
Stephen R. Lawhead's King Raven trilogy is a reinterpretation of the Robin Hood legend, in which the main character is portrayed as a Welsh freedom fighter who fights back against the Norman advances of the late 11th century. In the course of the multi-layered plot, the Robin Hood character (King Raven) finally manages to emerge from hiding in the forest - where he was hiding with his companions - to surround and capture the fortress of Caer Cadarn and make it his own. After reading the trilogy, the composer was particularly impressed by the description of this fortress and tried to express its mystery and majesty musically in this composition.
