Description:
Eduard Strauss (1835 - 1916) was an Austrian composer who, together with brothers Johann Strauss II and Josef Strauss made up the Strauss musical dynasty. He stamped his own mark with the quick polka, known in German as the 'Polka-schnell' but also found time to write a few lovely waltzes, of which only a handful survived obscurity. Continuing in the family tradition, Eduard Strauss wrote in 1876 a Quadrille based on Georges Bizet's (1838-1875) opera Carmen.
