The piece seeks to recognize Green County, Ohio for its role in the Underground Railroad Movement, when escaping slaves were taught to follow the North Star. A delicate opening moves into a frenzy of woodwind activity over powerful brass fanfares. After a brief lyrical section, the piece resumes its fire, erupting in celebration as it catapults toward its heroic ending!
