Champagne Tango was recorded for the first time in 1914 by the pianist Roberto Firpo. After the first release, is's recorded a numerous times both in Argentina and abroad.
It was written by Manuel Aróztegui and Hèctor Varela. Aróztegui was a pianist and composer born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1888. He composer a numerous tangos of which Champagne Tango is one of his most well-known.
The Argentin Hèctor Varela was bandoneónist, bandleader and composer. In the 1950's and 60's, he led his band in many popular TV-shows in Argentina. Varela is regarded as one of the greatest tango masters of his own contemporary.
