Description:
'Ruslan and Ludmilla' is an opera in five acts (eight tableaux) composed by Michail Glinka between 1837 and 1842. The opera is based on the 1820 poem of the same name by Alexander Pushkin. Besides the overture became 'Chernomor's March' well known on its own and conquered a place in the concert repertoire. The march portrays the evil sorcerer Chernomor and his profound sense of self-importance. Beginning with a pompous opening motive that repeats many times, each restatement says the same thing over and over.
