Description:
Commissioned by the Chichester Elementary School Band in Chichester, Pennsylvania, this majestic overture gives all sections of the band a chance to shine. The strong opening theme features intriguing syncopated rhythms that are echoed throughout the work. The cheerful second theme features clarinets first, then flutes and finally the brass section. A dramatic return to the first theme segues to a rousing conclusion. Another winner in the long list of exciting overtures by John O'Reilly! (Grade 1 1/2)
