Description:
Ciocobongo is a composition for wind ensemble in three movements, originally conceived for a youth band, but later developed into a more complex and mature work. The piece has a descriptive character and draws inspiration from the sounds, rhythms, and atmospheres of Africa, evoking an imaginary journey through its wild nature.
1st Movement - The Ritual:
A powerful opening with African polyrhythms immerses the listener in a nocturnal tribal ritual. The dance grows in intensity until it becomes hypnotic and transcendent.
2nd Movement - Dawn in the Forest:
After the night, dawn slowly reveals the forest. Delicate, natural sounds portray the awakening of life, in a crescendo of color and sonic detail.
3rd Movement - The Run in the Savannah:
The scene shifts to the savannah, where the music becomes lively and dynamic. Animal chases, rhythmic interplay, and timbral contrasts celebrate the energy and beauty of African nature.
