Description:
Columbus is a brilliant and dynamic overture with a gentle, melodic middle section. The composer was inspired by the European space laboratory Columbus, which is part of the International Space Station. Hundreds of scientific experiments are carried out in this laboratory every year. The work was commissioned by the Brass Band Bourgueillois, which was founded ten years ago and has since become a kind of "laboratory" for musical creativity. Due to the many positive reactions to this appealing work, the composer has now also created a version for wind orchestra.
