The recording of the world’s first arrangement was made by the Royal Netherlands Navy Band under the direction of its conductor, Erik van de Kolk.
It can be described as truly groundbreaking and serves as the finest example of the Austrian style of performance.
Of course, there are many facets to this music that can be interpreted differently by various conductors, but this recording is, without a doubt, an exemplary success.
This relatively unknown overture features many characteristics of Viennese light music, ranging from the gallop to the polka française to the classic Viennese waltz.
